Reading Incentive Program Info

The ECC is excited to announce the theme of this year’s reading incentive program-
“We are all reading CHAMPS!”

This is how it works.  Students will bring home a reading log each month, from October to May.  The goal is to read 20 books or 200 minutes per month, but of course, they are always welcome to read more than that!  When they bring back their sheet at the end of each month, students will put a sticker on their special trophy page.  By May, students will have had the opportunity to earn 8 stickers.  When they put on their last sticker, we will celebrate with a book sale and a parade!  At the book sale, students will show their trophy page and be given new or gently used books for a job well done.  Students who reached their goal for every single month will put their name in a drawing for a new book purchased by the PTO.  Finally, we will celebrate with a sports themed parade in May.  Students will dress up in their favorite sports attire and we will parade around the outside of the school.  Parents are welcome to come and watch the parade!  The date and time will be announced later in the year.  Also, throughout the year, students from the high school sports teams will be visiting with the students to read a book related to their sport.

We look forward to lots of reading and celebrating!  If you have any new or gently used children’s books that you would like to donate, please send them in or place them in the bin in the ECC lobby.  Thanks for your help!
