Due to the snow day, two-hour delay and the fact that I was out for half a day this week, I am going to postpone our spelling test until next Friday. :)  We will continue our reading unit from this week into next week. :)

Twinsie Braids!

100th DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe that the 100th day of school is right around the corner!!!  I have lots of fun activities planned and can't wait for it to get here!  The 100th day of school is on February 2nd.  Kiddos are highly encouraged to dress AS THOUGH THEY ARE 100 YEARS OLD!!!!!  We will be parading (or shall I say walking very slowly) around the school to show off our 100 year old outfits to the other kiddos and staff!  I just wanted to give you a heads up so you can break out the canes and white hair!  This will be a day to remember!  I promise to post lots of pictures!!!!

Heads Up Regarding the Restroom

Hello everyone!  I just wanted to check in with you quickly regarding the use of the restroom here at school.  Currently, I take the kiddos to the restroom AT LEAST 4 times a day.  Even with that, I have kiddos asking to go constantly.  (No kidding-like every 5-10 minutes!)  It's really disrupting instruction so I am going to try to hold them off as long as possible.  For the frequent flyers, I am also going to start saying no during instructional times.  I know which kiddos really need to go and which are just going to take a walk.  I don't foresee any problems with this, but if your child has a problem and needs to use the restroom more than the four times that I take them, please let me know.  Of course, I'm aware of emergencies and things such as that.  Trust me, I have my own kiddos and am very sensitive to the bathroom needs.  However, I do feel like they are going overboard with using the restroom.  Feel free to contact me if you hear any problems from your child about this!!

Behavior Calendars

Hello everyone!

Just a quick update on behavior calendars that some of you have been signing each night.  The kiddos and I chatted today and we've decided that if they would like to continue to write in their calendar each day and have you sign it each night, that is fine.  However, if you would just like to scrap the calendar (just one more thing to do!), that's fine too.  If your kiddo has any needs, I have any concerns or want to share something positive I usually do that via email, phone call or blog so there really isn't any need for the calendar.

Challenge List Unit 2 Week 4

Making Our New Wallets!

New Behavior Incentive

Today marks the first day of our new reading incentive program!  Instead of earning stars, the kiddos will be earning "Zebra Bucks!"  The prizes will be the same as before but instead of adding stars up, they will be adding zebra bucks up.  On Friday's, students will be able to purchase a prize from the classroom store if they wish or they can continue to save up for something bigger.  They will each keep a "wallet" in their desk to add up their money and will have to count it up to see if they have enough for what they want to buy.  Fun! :)
