Gingerbread Houses=SUCCESS!! :)

Thank you all soooo much for all of the donations at the last minute!  The kids had a super fun time making their gingerbread houses and we had plenty of supplies!! Pictures to come soon! :)

Gingerbread Houses

The kids are SOOO excited to make gingerbread houses today!  Just a heads up though-the roof and bottom are glued together with a hot glue gun.  I told the kiddos but wanted to make sure you knew as well so that they don't eat those parts! :)

Fun Plans for Next Week!

Wow!  I can't believe that there are only 7 days until Christmas!  Many students in room 21 have been counting down!

During this holiday season, I want to thank all of you for sharing your children with me.  I feel so blessed to be able to spend so much time with such great kiddos.  I've really enjoyed watching them grow this year.  They are a sweet bunch. :)

To celebrate all of their successes so far this school year, we will have two special days next week. 

On Monday, room 21 will have a holiday fun day!  We will be doing holiday activities, including making gingerbread houses.  If you would like to donate some decorations for our gingerbread houses (mini marshmellows, M&M's, Skittles, chocolate chips, anything that you think would be cute to decorate a gingerbread house!) we would really appreciate it!!  We also need tubs of icing for these fun things to stick! Let me know if you plan to send something in so I know what I should purchase this weekend!  Parents are welcome to join the fun on Monday at 10:00.
 
On Tuesday, we will have "Frozen" Day!  For Frozen Day, kiddos can wear their pajamas and slippers and bring a stuffed animal to school to snuggle with!  We will watch the movie Frozen too!  We will be doing activities related to snow and winter this day!  We will also dress up as "Sven" from Frozen as we participate in our school-wide sing-along!  (I know, I said Rudolph before!  But we'd rather be Sven! ;))

School Sing-Along

On Tuesday, December 23rd our school will be doing a sing-along.  First grade has been assigned Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.  If your child would like to participate, please have them wear brown that day! :)  We will be making antlers and red noses in class! :)

Challenge Spelling

Hello everyone and Happy Monday!

Today, I offered any kiddo who would like to be pre-tested on this week's spelling words to do so.  If your child got 0 or 1 incorrect on the pre-test, I gave them a challenge spelling list for the week.  This is for fun and to challenge them because they already know the regular spelling words for the week.  I will continue to pre-test anyone who is interested each Monday.  If you would like your child to take the pre-test, please encourage them to do so.

Here is the challenge list.  Some kiddos who did not pass the pre-test requested to have a copy of the list so I told them that I'd post them on the blog so that they can practice them for fun.  However, I will not be testing those students on the challenge words, as they will still be tested on the regular spelling words.

Stuffed Animal Day!

Room 21 friends earned bring a stuffed animal to school day on Tuesday! :) They worked so nicely together sharing gluesticks today! :)

COCOA Cafe

Hello all!  I just wanted to give you a heads up about a fun event that is coming up for Room 21.  On Friday, January 30th, room 21 students will be hosting a COCOA Cafe in our classroom!  Parents are welcome to come and have cocoa and cookies while your children read their best stories to you!  It will be a fun time for all!  The time of the event will be 2-3:30.  I hope you all can make it! :)

Shaving Cream-For What?!

Hi everyone! Thanks for a great day of conferences!  It was so wonderful to meet with you all and share the amazing progress of your sweet kiddos!  I am so proud of them and you should be too! :)

Many of you asked if there was anything that I could use for the classroom and I couldn't think of anything at the time, but as I worked on my lesson plans today, I thought of a fun idea that I didn't yet do with this group of kiddos this year. 

My students in the past LOVED writing their spelling words in shaving cream!  If you're out shopping and would like to get a can to send in for the classroom, that would be super!  I love finding ways to keep the kiddos interested and this is definitely a well-liked activity!
